GENE EXPRESSION DATA MANAGEMENT USING GeneX

GREG D COLELLO,

National Center for Genome Resources, 2935 Rodeo Park Drive East, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87505, USA.

Large-scale gene expression studies require large amounts of metadata to give context to raw numbers. NCGR has developed GeneX as a way to do this, using Open Source components to provide a widely needed infrastructure for storing and analyzing large scale gene expression data. The GeneX system has been developed to allow organizations to store and analyze their own data until such time as they want to contribute it to a larger database. A desktop Curation Tool is provided to allow Internet transmission of expression data using an XML format.
