TreeGenes is an ACeDB-style database with a web interface that can be accessed on the Dendrome Server (http://dendrome.ucdavis.edu) or at the USDA-ARS Center for Agricultural Bioinformatics at Cornell University (http://ars-genome.cornell.edu/cgi-bin/WebAce/webace?db=treegenes). It is a collaborative effort designed to provide forest tree researchers with genomic data and the necessary analytical tools. TreeGenes consists of 35 genetic maps, 22000 pine ESTs, QTLs, comparative maps, colleague information, current literature, and protocols from many laboratories. The database can be searched by quick queries or by clicking on the classes themselves. Current plans are to interface the genetic mapping data with comparative map tools on the Dendrome server for public access. We hope to establish collaborations with the UK CropNet, USDA-ARS CAB, and NCGR in developing these tools.
