FlyBase is a database of genetic and molecular data concerning Drosophila. The scope of FlyBase includes: genes, transcripts and polypeptides, alleles and phenotypes, aberrations, transposons, vectors, pointers to sequence data, clones, Drosophila anatomy, stock lists, bibliographic references and contact information for Drosophila workers. Primary access to FlyBase is through a multi-protocol server (http://flybase.bio.indiana.edu/) and mirrors (see http://flybase.bio.indiana.edu/alt-views/mirrors/). An overview of FlyBase will be presented with an emphasis on information about gene function.
