Poster: Genome Sequencing & ESTs
Expressed sequence Tag (EST) approach was applied to clone cDNAs representing genes that expressed in developing tissues of seedling roots of Scots pine. Blast X sequence analyses of these ESTs led to identifification of several kinds of genes such as those involved in signal transduction, disease resistance, developmental processes, metabolism and other cellular functions. The possible roles of these gene products during root development and interaction with necrotrophic parasites will be discussed.
