Welcome to the draft program for the Plant & Animal Genome IX conference.

PLEASE NOTE THE REVISED DATES FOR THE MEETING - THE MEETING WILL START ON SATURDAY AND WILL END ON WEDNESDAY EVENING.

Details of the last meeting, PAG-VIII, can be found on the PAG-VIII Home Page.
The abstracts from all the previous eight meetings are available via the Internet on this computer system: [http://www.intl-pag.org/]

The abstracts from these past meetings appear on the menu and have been indexed for convenient searching.

Abstracts for the PAG-IX meeting will be available one month prior to the PAG-IX. The abstracts will be released on 13 December 2000 and can be found by clicking here.

Based on feedback from participants the organization and structure of the PAG-IX has again been changed. This home page for the meeting is an overview of the main parts of the meeting. The PAG Table of Contents now links to the information about the meeting and its various parts (e.g, workshops, sessions, travel grants, and so on). This page will only contain an overview of the meeting.

The main change for PAG-IX is that the meeting will start on Saturday, January 13, 2001, so that the additional workshops scheduled can be accomodated with minimal overlap with other workshops. banquet on Wednesday evening, January 17, 2001. There will be again be a Agricultural Microbes Genome 2 meeting directly after the PAG meeting, with one day of overlap between the two meetings. The Agricultural Microbes Genome 2 meeting will last 2 1/2 days from January 17-19, 2001. Details of this meeting can be found by clicking here. Reduced registration rates will again be available to those who attend both meetings.

The Organizing Committee would like to thank all those participants of the PAG-VIII meeting who took the time to fill out the conference evaluation form. The one comment that was, again, most often mentioned was the overlap of many of the workshops. We believe we have been able to resolve this problem to a great extent by starting the meeting one day earlier, on Saturday 13 January, 2001. For PAG-IX we will continue to have the posters and exhibits downstairs the much larger area available there. We will again have the main lecture room that easily seats 2000+ people and we will have even larger rooms for all workshop leaders that request the additional space. At PAG-VIII there were 1500 attendees and PAG-IX is expected to have an even larger attendance.

Meeting Overview:

In response to the many constructive suggestions from PAG-VIII participants, the meeting organization has been modified in a number of places. The main changes are that the meeting will start on Saturday, the banquet will continue to be held on Wednesday evening, Monday evening will be a continue to be free night, and there will be only two afternoons for posters. Again there will fewer peenary and main lectures, and there will be separate, parallel plant and aminal sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday after the main plenary talks on those days.

More new workshops have been added including Apomixis, Array Technology, Coat Color, International Lolium Genome Initiative, Functional Genomics - Methodologies, Neutraceuticals, Plant Interactions with Pests and Pathogens, and Statistical Methods of Pedigree Analysis. For PAG-IX there will be over 50 workshop and vendor presentations (an increase of about 10), as well as a number of computer program demonstrations.

As usual there we will pass out evaluation forms towards the end of the meeting for particpants to fill out. This year we have also put the form on the web so you may send in your comments and evaulation after you get home. The form is available by clicking here.
