PAG VIII Barley Workshop

Barley Workshop

Tuesday Afternoon, 11 January 2000 --- 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Barley Workshop: - Pacific Salon 1 Room

Organizer: Patrick Hayes, Oregon State

(patrick.m.hayes@orst.edu)

The theme for the workshop this year is: Defining the template for barley genomics research in an international context.

Barley has unique quality attributes for malting and brewing, as an animal feed, and as a human food. Continued improvements in barley quality and productivity can be achieved by understanding the underlying genetic mechanisms.

The goals of this workshop are to:

* Provide participants with a profile of current international barley genomics research activities
* Stimulate discussion leading to the formulation of new research objectives and research partnerships

The workshop will be loosely structured around the following themes. The individuals indicated will be responsible for providing BRIEF summaries of current research in each area of endeavor and for guiding the discussion.

Kazuhiro Sato , Japan
