ADVANCES IN AFLP AND GENOTYPING APPLICATIONS UTILIZING NEN GLOBAL IR² DNA ANALYSIS SYSTEM

AFLP and SSR, or microsatellites, are two popular marker based systems that have been widely utilized in genotyping and mapping research. More recently, the application of AFLP has been extended to study cDNA profiling and gene expression. There is an increasing and urgent need for hardware and software integration to enhance high through-put and automation of genotyping. Toward this end, a new Global DNA analysis system has been developed to allow integration of instrument control, data collection and analysis. Since this Global system is platform independent, it allows effective network/internet communications and greatly improves accessibility and flexibility of data analysis. Results from utilizing a newly developed bovine multiplexing SSR protocol along with SAGA-GT^TM software and cDNA AFLP will be presented and discussed.
