KATHLEEN A. MATTHEWS, The FlyBase Consortium

Department of Biology, Indiana University, 1001 E. 3rd St., Bloomington, IN 47405-3700, U.S.A.

FlyBase is a database of genetic and molecular data concerning Drosophila. The scope of FlyBase includes: genes, transcripts and polypeptides, alleles and phenotypes, aberrations, transposons, vectors, reference sequences and pointers to sequence data, clones, Drosophila anatomy, stock lists, bibliographic references and contact information for Drosophila workers. Primary access to FlyBase is through a multi-protocol server (http://flybase.bio.indiana.edu/) and mirrors (see http://flybase.bio.indiana.edu/alt-views/mirrors/). An overview of FlyBase will be presented with an emphasis on new tools for retrieving information on expression patterns of gene products.
