Linkage maps for tilapia continue to improve. Labs in New Hampshire and Norway have developed 500 additional microsatellite markers and typed these in the international F2 reference family. Analyses of meiogynes is providing information on the position of the centromere in each linkage group. A cosmid library has been constructed in Oregon, and several BAC libraries produced in Japan. EST projects are beginning in New Hampshire and Norway, and a radiation hybrid panel is under development in New Hampshire. Statistical analyses in Israel and New Hampshire have begun to identify QTL for growth and sex. Current status of these efforts will be reviewed.
