Tyrosinase is the enzyme associated with the albino trait locus (c) in mice and cattle. TYR was mapped to the terminal end of cattle chromosome 29 using tritium (Zmax = 3.38, P<0.01). BCL1 share complete homology with cyclin D1 (CCND1), also called parathyroid adenomatosis 1 (PRAD1), according to GenBank sequences (M73554 and X59798). BCL1 and CCND1 are involved in cancers and presumably represent one gene or parts of a gene family. It also mapped to 29 qter (Zmax = 1.99, P<0.05). Although both TYR and BCL1 appear to map near the terminal end of cattle chromosome 29, as did LDHA and IGF2 previously, it is impossible to order them relative to one another. All these genes map to human chromosome 11.
