PAG Abstracts PAG-VII

Special Note:

PROGRAM TITLES FOR PAG-VII

PAG-VII abstracts will be available for browsing and searching on the Internet once they are accepted and by meeting time. All six (6) previous PAG meeting paper/poster abstracts have been indexed for convenient searching from the WWW Intl-PAG site.

Abstract Instructions:

See below for details. Please note:
ABSTRACTS NOT INCLUDING ALL REQUIRED INFORMATION WILL BE REJECTED!!

All accepted abstracts are limited to 250 words and will be included in the final printed program. For PAG-VII the poster board size at the meeting will be 4 feet (1.22 meters) high by 3 feet (0.92 meters) wide (Perfect fit if you have a 36" wide large-format printer). The abstract submission deadline is earlier for PAG-VII and will be Friday, 16 October, 1998. Due the large number of abstracts, we WILL enforce the deadline. While electronic web submission is preferred, if needed, printed abstract forms are available from Scherago International. Please contact them by phone, FAX, e-mail, or regular post to obtain abstract forms.

David Grant, USDA-ARS & Iowa State University and Gerard Lazo, USDA ARS, Albany, CA will oversee the submission and handling of the PAG-VII abstracts. Please direct all questions or problems about abstract submissions to David Grant or Gerard Lazo (510-559-5640).

IMPORTANT

Please do NOT submit a paper form for your abstract if you have access to electronic mail on the Internet or a World Wide Web (WWW) browser with forms capability (e.g., Mosaic, Netscape, Explorer, Lynx, and so on). Your abstract will appear faster on the network and will not have errors introduced by scanning the paper abstract form. You may also save yourself some time.

STARTING IN AUGUST 1998, send a mail message to pag7form@www.intl-pag.org- a blank form will be returned by e-mail. The message does not need a subject or a body. Fill out the form following the instructions included with the form. Send the completed electronic form to pag7abstracts@www.intl-pag.org. To submit via the WWW browser: Point your browser to: http://www.intl-pag.org and follow the instructions.

Please be advised that all accepted abstracts are considered public information and by submiting an abstract you agree to give the conference a license to put the abstract up on the conference web site.

FORMAT

Title in Capitals, Author(s) name (surname, first name) and affiliation in upper and lower case. If multiple authors, please underline the Presenting Author's name(s). Multiple presenting authors are ONLY for poster abstracts (categories 1-9). Single space all typing. The text of the abstract should be a single paragraph starting with a three (3) space indentation. Do NOT use a dot matrix printer. Do NOT send the abstract by FAX, we MUST receive the original.

Abstracts and Scientific Manuscripts for JAG:

Participants are invited to submit abstracts for the poster session either in hard copy (printed form) or by e-mail (see below for details). There were over 400 posters at PAG-VI. The abstract forms will have a set of categories to assure your poster talk is properly handled. The printed abstract forms will be available by the summer of 1998 from Scherago International, however electronic submissions are much preferred and easier. This year we have added some suggestions and guidelines for those who will present posters, as well as those who will give talks in the sessions and at the workshops.

Authors of abstract papers are encouraged to submit full length scientific manuscripts to the new all-electronic journal Journal of Agricultural Genomics (JAG) . The JAG Editor is Thomas Blake, Montana State University (blake@gemini.oscs.montana.edu). JAG is the official journal of the PAG meeting.

JAG provides a peer-reviewed, fully electronic forum for articles dealing with all aspects of genome research pertaining to agricultural systems. JAG is hosted by the National Center for Genome Resources in Santa Fe, NM. The publication format facilitates links to related publications and databases, and permits the inclusion of complete image libraries, animations, multi-media data, large datasets and more thorough analyses than is generally feasible in bound media. Improved publication speed, easy and free access should make JAG a preferred journal for the publication of papers dealing with all aspects of agricultural genome research.

This year all posters will be up the entire length of the meeting. Posters need to be taken down by 1:00 pm on Thursday afternoon this year. Those presenting posters this year need only be at their posters one day this year - Monday for the odd numbered posters and Tuesday for the even numbered posters.

All abstracts will be reviewed by members of the organizing committee. The normal review turn-around time will be within two - three weeks after the receipt deadline (October 16, 1998) for the meeting abstracts. This year all abstracts should be submitted to: PAG-VII Abstracts, USDA , Albany, CA 94710 USA. You will be notified of the acceptance of your abstract(s).
