An updated version of the pea linkage map will be presented, and the relationship between the pea linkage map and the linkage maps of other legumes discussed. The relationship between the linkage map and the expectation from cytogenetic observations of meiotic divisions will be discussed. The discussion will draw on data from the John Innes Laboratory, John Parker and Kathryn Hall's cytogenetic investigations in the University of Reading, and will refer to data from Gyorgy Kiss' lab in Szeged.
