Like other genomic databases, SolGenes can be used simply as a repository of map and locus data to browse. With a little practice in constructing queries the database can be made to furnish more elaborate (and useful) information. We will have a look at data models and build some example queries. We will also discuss development of the database in directions that will best facilitate Solanaceae genome research, QTL studies, and marker-assisted breeding.
