Intellectual Property Protection for Animal and Plant-Based Technology
MARSH, DAVID
Howery & Simon, 1299 Pennsylvania Avenue N.W., Washington, DC 20004
Obtaining and protecting intellectual property protection resulting from plant and animal-based research is of increasing importance
to businesses, research institutions and universities. My talk will introduce the different forms of intellectual property of interest to those
involved with plant and a nimal-based technology: utility patents, plant patents, plant variety protection certificates, and trade secrets and
highlight emerging issues that pertain to their procurement and enforcement. My talk will also explore the underlying legal issues that are
associated with patents directed to nucleic acid molecules.
