NCBI provides a rich environment of resources for plant genomics as well as the tools to readily move among these resources. We describe PlantBLAST, EST-BLAST, Entrez Probe and MapViewer. PlantBLAST provides organism-specific databases composed solely of the accessions associated with mapped loci visible through MapViewer. EST-BLAST provides plant-specific databases composed solely of the ESTs from those plants with more than 50,000 ESTs. Entrez Probe provides an archive of probes with associated information about the experimental application and results. MapViewer is the display engine for genetic maps, sequence maps, and physical maps from various organisms extending across the spectrum of those plants that are the subject of genomic investigations.
