Poster: High-throughput Methods
The progress and power of gene mapping in humans and mice has been greatly improved with the use of larger sample sets, development of genetic markers and the use of high throughput machinery and methods to accommodate this increase in data production. Projects involving specific plant and animal species are now beginning to adopt these large-scale methods so as to increase the probability of successful QTL discovery or individual/population differentiation. The Australian Genome Research Facility (AGRF), a not-for-profit organization, is dedicated to quality high-throughput genomic services including enriched marker library construction and screening, sequencing, genotyping (microsatellite and SNP) and microarrays. In the human genetics field we are recognised as one of the leading genotyping facilities in the world. The AGRF has years of experience successfully processing many large-scale projects from both Australian and overseas laboratories involving several different plant and animal species for one or several of these processes. This has involved extensive collaboration and interactions for project design as well as the development and implementation of state-of-the-art technology. This poster highlights examples of the size and scope of some of these projects as well as describing our processes and set up for high quality, high throughput genomic services.
