Poster: Large Insert Libraries
Clemson University has established a Genomics Institute (CUGI) focusing on research, teaching and service. One service component of CUGI (The BAC/EST Resource Center) is to produce and distribute high quality BAC and EST libraries from plants, animals, and microbes on a cost-recovery basis. We provide convenient access to complete libraries, high-density hybridization filters, clones and related technologies. With the assistance of several high-throughput robotic devices, CUGI has produced, acquired and distributed the majority of plant and microbial libraries in use today. We are also now expanding our expertise and providing new BAC/EST libraries for insects, mammals, and other animal taxa. Many of the new BAC libraries being developed and distributed at CUGI are related to three separate NSF grants for 1) algae and primitive plants, 2) wild relatives of rice, and 3) insects. We are also producing new BAC libraries for diverse animal taxa with funding from an NIH grant. All of our libraries and related resources can be ordered via our webpage (www.genome.clemson.edu).
