John Yu1 , Russell J. Kohel1 , Piyush Gupta1

1 USDA-ARS, Crop Germplasm Research Unit, 2765 F&B Road, College Station, TX 77845, USA

We will review the current status of the CottonDB, an internationally accessible web-based resource for cotton genome research. The database includes the collections of Gossypium germplasm, pedigrees of cultivars, biochemical pathways, molecular markers, DNA sequences, and gene functions. It is online as part of the USDA-ARS, Plant Genome Database System (http://ars-genome.cornell.edu/). We will present the most recent updates of the CottonDB including cotton bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) clones, and the newly developed sequence data from these clones for various applications. The polymorphism information content (PIC) is being generated among a panel of diverse Upland cottons. We will also present the information on the newly established international cotton genome initiative (ICGI) in the CottonDB.
