A BARLEY EST DATABASE RESOURCE

A barley EST database has been developed at the Clemson University Genomics Institute comprising over 60,000 partial cDNA sequences from 13 different libraries of varying tissues and treatments. Developed as a data mining resource for the genomics community this publicly accessible database contains comprehensive information on homololgy derived from sequence similarity searches of SwissProt, MAtDB and Genbank nr. Emphasis has been placed on developing user friendly web interfaces to facilitate accessibilty and retrieval of data. Planned additions to barley EST database in 2002 include mapping data, other grass genomic sequences, and grass EST homology data.
